The BTRC is dedicated to the Welfare, Rehabilitation, Retraining and Rehoming of Retired Racehorses. As such they have become experts in assessment, retraining and long term maintenance of the horses they rehome. Developing a highly skilled team including nutritionist, farrier, vet, riders and coaches they create suitable and realistic training programmes to ensure the horses longevity in a future alternative career. This makes them the perfect partner to host this exciting training day looking at a holistic approach to training horses.
FEI Vet, Gordon Sidlow BVMS MRCVS has served as Veterinary Delegate in various international competitions and as a Treating Vet for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He has worked with the British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre (BTRC) for 3 years, and prior to that worked with BTRC Chief Executive Gillian Carlisle in Hong Kong. Gillian is an experienced Stage 4 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, previously managing the equine operations for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, rehabilitating and retraining retired racehorse. Speakers will also include Callum Garvey, long term equine farrier for BTRC and Top Spec nutritionist.

All events are checked for viability approximately 5 working days prior to the date of the event. At this point, any event that has insufficient numbers may be cancelled. In this instance, attendees booked on the cancelled event will receive a full refund. Event fees are non-refundable if cancelled by attendee within 5 working days of the event date without a medical certificate, which must be received within five working days of the event date. All cancellations MUST be in writing by post or email. It is the responsibility of each attendee to ensure that they provide correct, up to date contact details, which must include a telephone number with an answering service. If messages are left for attendees regarding an event cancellation, or if the organiser are unable to leave a message and attendees then arrive at a venue for an event that has been cancelled, any expenses incurred by the attendee are wholly their own. In the event of adverse weather conditions, a decision will be made the day before an event is due to start as to whether or not it will be cancelled. If it should be cancelled then each candidate will be contacted.
This event will qualify as CPD for Accredited Professional Coaches who complete the full day totaling 6 hours. Those who leave early will not gain CPD points. A £5 discount is available to all APC’s to obtain the code please contact your regional manager.
The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents. Neither the organisers nor the British Horse Society accept responsibility for any accident, injury, loss or illness to horse, rider, spectator or property whilst at this event. Please report to the organisers on arrival. Attendees under 18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the event.
